Can Cracking your Knuckle Damage Them? Pop! Crack! A silent classroom is disturbed by the noise of knuckles popping. Nearly everyone has had their concentration broken by the person behind them cracking their knuckles as they continue working unperturbed. We have always been told that cracking your knuckles will cause arthritis down the line, mostly by people who are annoyed by the noise. Luckily research suggests that that's all knuckle cracking is. Despite the myths and misconceptions that popping your knuckles can cause health problems, science appears to have proven that at most it is simply a nuisance to the people around you. To understand why knuckle cracking doesn’t cause arthritis, it has to be understood exactly what it is.
